The Mouse's Tale is a concrete poem written by Lewis Carroll which appears in his novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Though no formal title for the poem is given in the novel, the chapter title refers to "A Long Tale" and the Mouse introduces it by saying,"Mine is a long and sad tale!"

              `Fury said to a
                   mouse, That he
                 met in the
               house,
            "Let us
              both go to
                law: I will
                  prosecute
                    YOU. --Come,
                       I'll take no
                        denial; We
                     must have a
                 trial: For
              really this
           morning I've
          nothing
         to do."
           Said the
             mouse to the
               cur, "Such
                 a trial,
                   dear Sir,
                         With
                     no jury
                  or judge,
                would be
              wasting
             our
              breath."
               "I'll be
                 judge, I'll
                   be jury,"
                         Said
                    cunning
                      old Fury:
                     "I'll
                      try the
                         whole
                          cause,
                             and
                        condemn
                       you
                      to
                       death."

In this tale, the Mouse explains how a cur condemn it to death,by serving as both judge and jury.

CINCO DE MAYO (FIFTH OF MAY)

Cinco de Mayo is a celebration held on May 5. It is celebrated in the United States and in Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla, where the holiday is called El Día de la Batalla de Puebla.Mexican Americans also often see the day as a source of pride; one way they can honor their ethnicity is to celebrate this day. In 1861 the liberal Mexican Benito Juárez became president of a country in financial ruin, and he was forced to default on his debts to European governments. In response, France, Britain and Spain sent naval forces to Veracruz to demand reimbursement. Britain and Spain negotiated with Mexico and withdrew, but France, ruled by Napoleon III, decided to use the opportunity to carve a dependent empire out of Mexican territory. Late in 1861, a well-armed French fleet stormed Veracruz, landing a large French force and driving President Juárez and his government into retreat.

CINCO DE MAYO IN MEXICO
Within Mexico, Cinco de Mayo is primarily observed in the state of Puebla, where Zaragoza’s unlikely triumph occurred, although other parts of the country also take part in the celebration. Traditions include military parades, recreations of the Battle of Puebla and other festive events. For many Mexicans, however, May 5 is a day like any other: It is not a federal holiday, so offices, banks and stores remain open.

CINCO DE MAYO IN THE UNITED STATES:
In the United States, Cinco de Mayo is widely interpreted as a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with substantial Mexican-American populations. Chicano activists raised awareness of the holiday in the 1960s, in part because they identified with the victory of indigenous Mexicans over European invaders during the Battle of Puebla. Today, revelers mark the occasion with parades, parties, mariachi music, Mexican folk dancing and traditional foods such as tacos and mole poblano. Some of the largest festivals are held in Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston.

Gulliver's Travels symbolism

                        GULLIVER'S TRAVELS

The Egg
In Lilliput, great debate rages over which end of the egg should be cracked in order to eat it – the little end or the big end. The disagreement is rampant, and the long-ranging debate over which end to crack has led to division in the society, to a political uprising, and to the creation of an enemy across the bay. The Lilliputians are all forced to crack their egg on the small end, though many would prefer to crack theirs on the larger end.

The egg and how it is cracked are symbols for the many issues on which man will argue and debate. Instead of allowing each person to crack their egg the way they prefer, the Lilliputians believe there is only one right way – a fault that human societies and those in power often have. Swift uses the egg to create a satirical comment on England and Europe and what small, often petty topics can cause divisions in relationships between nations.

Clothes

Throughout his journey, Gulliver pays a great deal of attention to clothes and attire of those that he visits. But his own clothes are also a symbol that Swift uses to demonstrate Gulliver's journey both physically and mentally. In Lilliput, Gulliver's clothes begin to deteriorate, as does his opinion of the people he is vi
siting. They attempt to repair his clothes, but the damage is inevitable; he is simply too large and his clothes too massive, just as his own morality and understanding are larger than those of the small people.

In Brobdingnag, his clothes become a symbol of his captivity. He is forcibly dressed in whatever Glumdalclitch puts him in or whatever will reasonably fit him. His clothes are forcibly removed at one point as he is examined head to toe. He is subjugated to their whims, including what clothes he wears.

Then on his final voyage, when he is rescued by the Portuguese, he is wearing animal skins. He is offered clothes, the symbol of the human society he is returning to, but he refuses. The refusal of human clothing is symbolic of his refusal of his own kind; he is now too changed to put back on the "cloak" of his own society.

THE COLUMBUS MONUMENT

The Columbus Monument,is a 60m tall,is situate in Barcelona at the end of La Rambla. It was constructed for the Exposición Universal de Barcelona (1888) in honor to Columbus first voyage to the Americas. At the very top of the monument stands a 7.2 m (24 ft) tall bronze statue atop a 40 m (131 ft) tall Corinthian column. The statue was sculpted by Rafael Atché and is said to depict Columbus pointing towards the New World with his right hand, while holding a scroll in the left. It is a commonly held belief that instead of pointing to the west towards the New World, the statue points east towards Columbus's supposed home city of Genoa. This, however, is not true, as the statue points south-southeast (a more southerly direction than the adjacent Rambla Del Mar and almost a perfect extension of the direction of La Rambla, Barcelona) and in effect is pointing at a point somewhere near the city of Constantine, Algeria. To point at Genoa in northern Italy the statue would have to face east-northeast and point up the coastline. It is more likely that the statue is situated in the current way simply to have Columbus point out to sea underscoring his achievements in naval exploration. The statue is atop a socle, on which the word "Tierra"  is inscribed.

Strange Visitor

I had been transferred to another town. The company had relocated

me into a nice brick house not far from my workplace. I was excited to embark on this new chapter in my life. But it wasn't long before I realized there was something wrong with my home. I was still living out of boxes and I had only the essentials available to me. My days were long and by the time I got home, I was completely exhausted. I'd often eat, shower and fall asleep on the coach. One night, I had a strange dream. Someone was watching me sleep. He leaned over me as I slept. He had a scowl on his face. I couldn't make out the features but it looked like an older gentleman and he was angry. I quickly dismissed the strange dream. On the third night, the temperature in my room had dropped. I awoke shivering. Had a cold front come in during the night? I coughed and the smoky vapor emitted from my breath startled me.

Something was wrong. First of all it was icy cold in the room. More importantly, I felt as if someone was watching me.

Had someone broken in? I sat up. From the corner of the tiny bar in the den, a grey mist was slowly making its way across the room. I wiped my eyes making sure I wasn't imagining things. By now I was wide awake. The foggy mass seemed to move with a purpose. I was immobile and the thick mist drifted towards the front door. I eventually got up to investigate. I followed its movement and opened the front door of my house. There was no one there. But that wasn't what surprised me the most. Outside, the air was warm and still. It was only cold inside my house. I checked the thermostat. The air conditioner wasn't even on! I couldn't explain the chill in the room.

As the weeks passed, I settled into the house and eventually got myself a bed and moved into the bedroom. One night, I heard footsteps. There was a rustling sound coming from the living room. Rats? The sound stopped and I made a mental note to call an exterminator the next day. I got up to get some water from the kitchen. As I left my bedroom, my eyes adjusted to the darkness. As I walked into the narrow hallway, I stopped in my tracks. Something was standing at the end of the hallway. It was a dark figure. My heart started to pound. Then the figure quickly moved away from the entrance. my hand scrambled to turn on the light. I walked into the living room expecting to catch the intruder. There was no one. I looked everywhere. I didn't have much furniture and there weren't too many places he could hide. The fact is there was no one in the house. What was going on in my home? I wasn't dreaming or hallucinating. I know I saw a dark figure of a man.

I didn't know who to ask or what to do about this strange happening. Eventually things settled down and I forgot about it. Several months later, I was sleeping in my bedroom. I started to have the strange dream again. There was someone watching me and my heart started to pound in panic. It startled me so much, I awoke. I glanced to the right of my bedroom. Coming out from the dresser mirror was the dark figure of a man. It was pitch black, darker than the night. He stood at the foot of my bed. I couldn't make out eyes or any facial features at all. But I knew he was staring at me. I was lying in bed completely paralyzed. He started to walk toward me. I was so shocked, I couldn't even open my mouth to speak. My mind raced and I started to think of the Lords prayer. Suddenly and unexpectedly a blue light from the bathroom window came on. The alley is behind my bedroom and bathroom. I don't know if it was a car driving by or what had caused the blue light to come on. But as soon as the light entered from the window, the dark figure turned away from the light and walked right through the closed bedroom door and out of my room. What had I just seen?

It wasn't long before I moved out for good. I was never a believer in the paranormal and I thought ghosts were simply a figment of someone's overactive imagination. I no longer scoff at people who claim to see ghosts. I never did find out who or what was haunting that house. But I wasn't going to stay and find out. Whatever it was, I'm sure is still there at that house.

The Reason

In this love story the protagonist has commited a lot of errors, in fact the text of ballad is similar to a letter of excuses, for his girlfriend,he wants to say her that he's awore to have done mistaks and now she is the reason of his change. The main different between modern and medieval ballad is the languages. We can find other differences: the rhymes and th rhytm, but there are also similar elements how the repetition of some lines. The topyc of this ballad is regrets.

I'm not a perfect person

As many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
Thats why i need you to hear

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is You [x4]

I'm not a perfect person
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do
And the reason is you
